Considering that the Green Line goes from Dadeland to Palmetto is at a distance of 25 miles going through DT Miami and Chicago’s Red Line goes 26 miles, that’s the longest Metrorail has.īut adding another 10 miles would mean that the Green Line would go up to about 35 miles if the line was extended to Southland. The distance from Homestead to Dadeland is 20 miles which is similar to the longest line in Chicago, the Red Line which goes 26 miles and the two termini, Howard, and 95th/Dan Ryan are 21 miles apart form one another, while the distance from Homestead to Southland is 10 miles. I would’ve extended the Tri Rail instead since there are already two right of ways that travel south of Miami and used those ROWs to Homestead instead of extending the Metrorail all the way from Dadeland to Homestead, which would’ve been too far to operate a mass transit line.
